Touraj Aslani wins Asia Pacific award
Iranian cinematographer Touraj Aslani has won the 2012 Asia Pacific Screen Award for his work on Fasle Kargadan (Rhino Season), a co-production between Iraqi Kurdistan and Turkey.
The sixth annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards ceremony took place at the Queesland Performing Arts Centre in Brisbane, Australia last night, November 23. Touraj Aslani dedicated his award to Behrouz Vosoughi, the veteran Iranian actor who returned to the screen with Rhino Season after years of absence.
The awards attracted 34 entries from 18 countries in the region, and Turkey’s Beyond the Hill won the best film award.
Alsani also won the best cinematographer award for Rhino Season at the San Sebastian Film Festival.
Aslani has worked on more than 20 Iranian films, but his collaboration with Bahman Gobadi on Rhino Season got him temporarily blacklisted by Iran’s Culture and Guidance Ministry.
