Iran denies illegal actions in Nigeria
Iran has denied accusations regarding its presence in Nigeria, saying: “they are fabricated by biased intelligence and media circles.”
Hossein Amir Abdolahian, Iran’s Foreign Ministry deputy, said Iran and Nigeria have amicable relations and Iran is not involved in any illegal activities in that country.
He stressed that the allegations against Iran are “made in bad faith by Iran’s enemies, who regard Iran’s good relations with Nigeria as a blow to their own interests.”
Earlier this week, a report from Nigeria said three Iranians were arrested in that country and charged with spying for Iran.
They are facing charges for their alleged involvement in a plan to assassinate a number of military and religious figures in Nigeria. They are also accused of gathering information from U.S. and Israeli centres in Nigeria.
